16 of the best Strawberry Moon images as it glows over Greater Manchester

Stargazers captured the stunning 'strawberry moon' above Greater Manchester overnight with some incredible photos.

The phenomenon saw the lowest full moon in decades on Tuesday night (June 10) and the early hours of this morning.

The moon's unusual position led to incredible scenes across the region, with the moon showing an incredible glow in the night sky.

Across the moon's cycle, it follows a tilted orbit around Earth, causing visual events called major and minor lunar standstills.

Last night saw the first major lunar standstill since 2006, with the next one expected in 2043.

It led to the moon appearing larger than usual, due to a phenomenon called the 'moon illusion'.

The incredible orange hue was caused by the effect of Earth's atmosphere and how it scatters light, filtering most of the blue light to leave red hues to reflect off the moon's surface.

The phenomenon created some incredible scenes above Greater Manchester.
