Manchester United are not expected to make any progress in Bryan Mbeumo talks by the first summer transfer deadline.

United submitted an opening offer of £45million with a further £10million in add-ons for Mbeumo, but it fell short of Brentford’s valuation and talks are continuing between the clubs.

There is no update on Mbeumo expected by the first summer transfer deadline. The summer transfer window opened on June 1 and will close again Tuesday, June 10.

The transfer window will reopen on Monday, June 16, and remain open until the newly announced deadline day time of 7pm on Monday, September 1.

United would like to wrap up a deal for Mbeumo as soon as possible so he can report for the start of pre-season at Carrington in July.

Mbeumo contributed 20 goals and eight assists in the Premier League last season, predominantly playing on the right wing but also making a handful of appearances down the middle.

United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle have been linked with a deal for Mbeumo this summer, but the player has indicated that he would prefer a move to Manchester.

Tottenham are closing in on the appointment of Thomas Frank, who has overseen Mbeumo's development at Brentford, but the player is understood to be keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Mbeumo is about to enter the final year of his Brentford contract, although the London club have the option of triggering a one-year extension in his deal.

United are targeting at least three priority signings, with the £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha already confirmed.
