The canalside pub with gorgeous views and £3.55 pints
"Summer is here. Best place in the area for outside dining and drinking."
It's hailed one of the best places in the region for outside dining and drinking - and it's hard to deny it's a stunning setting for historic pub The Golden Fleece in Lymm.
Happily located right next to the Bridgewater Canal in the Cheshire village, it has been welcoming visitors for the best part of 250 years.
Its picture postcard setting, with an arched brick bridge backdrop, means it's a frequent stop off for walkers ambling along the canal path.
Naturally, when the sun is shining it's a hotspot for revellers, and the 18th century pub has been enjoying a busy few weeks in our current sunny spell over the Easter holidays.
Eleanor Dutton, the pub's assistant manager, said: "As soon is the sun is out we get people flocking in, people see us when they've been walking on the canal path.
"There are 200 covers outside so it does get busy in the sun. We're always very busy in the summer."
The pub has just topped a round-up of the best - and cheapest - canalside pubs in Cheshire. For pints here start at a bargainous £3.55 for Old Speckled Hen which further adds to the appeal.
In the list of best canalside pubs, compiled with data by Roam and Roost, James Anelay of Canal Boat Holidays gave his verdict on the Golden Fleece as: "A family-friendly pub/restaurant with a pub garden and outdoor seating overlooking the canal at what may just be the most scenic and well-known spot on the Bridgewater Canal."
Recent Tripadvisor reviews have also lavished praise on the pub, with a string of five star reviews. Jamie M wrote this week: "Summer is here. Best place in the area for outside dining and drinking."
In March , Moonlight1 wrote "It's a big yes", and in their review wrote: "First time visiting here for food, loved the casual, welcoming atmosphere."
They added: "I loved this meal , it was great value and I can definitely recommend it. We will most certainly be returning. 10/10 and the staff were welcoming and very efficient too."
