Coronation Street fans have flooded show bosses with a demand as the transformation of the Platt family home was unveiled.

It was in Monday's (June 9) episode of the ITV soap that fans were given their first glimpse as David Platt was under strict instructions by his wife, Shona, to get the finishing touches on their home done.

As those who follow the show know, the changes are being made after No.8 Coronation Street was destroyed when Max Turner set fire to the property in a failed insurance job.

The teen carried out a botched plan to help his step-dad with his desperate money troubles as they found themselves targeted by gangster Harvey Gaskell.

Max found himself trapped in the blaze, while trying to find younger sister Lily, but when he later woke from his coma in the hospital, he faced Shona's wrath as she discovered it was Max who set their home alight as he attempted to help David get his hands on the home insurance money in order to pay off Harvey once and for all.

The plan didn't work and David and Shona planned for Max to do a runner, but he ended up handing himself into the police after his distinctive hoodie that linked him to the fire was found. He was later sentenced to six and a half years behind bars, but was moved to a prison in Scotland due to Harvey's threats.

It was later that Audrey agreed to buy the beloved family home, but only if she could move into what was her daughter Gail's annexe, meaning she has moved from her own home on Grasmere Drive after 35 years.

Now, Corrie has given fans a closer look inside the new No.8. Taking to Instagram, those behind the show's social media shared a string of pictures and said: "A peek at some of the details inside a newly refurbished No.8!"

They added some comments from production designer Rosie, who gave an insight into the newly renovated property. She said: "The set was fully rebuilt following the fire over a three month period and with a real focus on David, Shona and Lily and their style and taste and with a definite influence of Audrey in some of the dressings with her now residing in the annex!

"The set is more open plan than before for a more modern way of living for the family with a contemporary breakfast bar and industrial influenced kitchen. There is an eclectic mix of household dressings and artwork reflecting the personalities in the family.

"With a fun twist the dining table converts into a pool table as David attempts to make his mark on the property. There are modern geometrics, dark greys and tan and orange tones."

Rosie added: "I liked the humour that David has finally got rid of Gail to be landed with Audrey in the annex who has insisted on her own recliner, her own front door (now off the hallway) and also bringing along her sentimental and very large portrait of the late Alf which has pride of place on the new set.

"David the dog is not overlooked either with some interesting artwork & touches focussed on his importance in the family too! I love the Vin Diesel the weasel has also made it into the family home after being missing for a number of years."

The comments quickly came flooding in, but many were spending time demanding changes be made to other family homes on the Street.

@mud_on_my_mulberry said: "I love it! Please send the decorators round to sort Kev and Abi’s wallpaper out." @clairefargin commented: "Tyrone and fizz next. No one their age would have a house as badly decorated as that."

@mamalementi wrote: "Looks great! I hope Fiz & Tyrone’s place gets a makeover soon too. That wallpaper in their living room makes me nauseous loll."

@rebecca.617 echoed: "It looks lovely but now do Fiz and Tyrone’s because I cannot remember the last time that was decorated!" @queenie1806_ added: "About time they started modernising the homes on the street!"
