Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger has joked her on-screen alter-ego is desperate as she responded to an update from her co-star.

The actress is much-loved for playing Glenda Shuttleworth in the ITV soap, joining back in 2020. She was revealed as the 'fun and sassy' sister of George Shuttleworth, played by Tony Maudsley, who made his first appearance in Weatherfield back in 2020.

Making her debut as Glenda fulfilled a dream of Jodie, who first came to viewers' attention as the winner of BBC series I'd Do Anything in 2008, thanks to her family always being big Corrie fans.

Jodie soon achieved a major Corrie moment when Glenda landed a job behind the Rovers Return bar, and more recently fans of the long-running show have seen the character made the beloved pub's manager by owner Carla Connor.

In her time in charge so far, fans have been thrilled to see Glenda spring into action, subjecting the Rovers visitors to a bit of a performance during her stints on the karaoke mic, seemingly to Carla's disdain.

Glenda's also managed to do a bit of hiring while managing the boozer, taking Lauren Bolton under her wing after Carla agreed to give her a chance after a run-in with step-daughter Betsy Swain.

Earlier this week, Corrie fans saw Glends in her rightful spot behind the bar, with George the other side, looking to be cheered up following his split from Eileen Grimshaw before her departure from Weatherfield.

But with nothing seeming to work, Glenda started to get frustrated with her sibling, making for more comic scenes between the well-liked pair.

Following the scenes, Tony took to Instagram with a moment from on-screen. Alongside it, he wrote: "His Mrs only left him on Friday but Glenda's had enough of his moping already!! [crying laughing emoji].

"Don't hold back, Sis! #Corrie." Jodie was quick to respond, commenting on the post: "She’s desperate to be a bridesmaid."

And other comments also quickly came flooding in, with plenty of love for Tony and Jodie's on-screen partnership. @emily_theatre92 said: "The best onscreen siblings."

@xjeankellyx commented: "My favourite siblings on the show." @annettecrook1 wrote: "Love these two!" @nancy.lock.5 replied: "Love these two. Corrie do not write them out."

@mahgww posted: "Love George and Glenda." @jamier1974 shared: "Love both of your characters. Please keep up the great work!" @ibbsloveslizards added: "This was such a great pairing on Corrie! Please please please give us more hilarity."

It comes after Tony and Jodie were seen making an appearance at Blackpool Pride last weekend alongside fellow Corrie star Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie Winter in the show.
