Dramatic pictures of advert van erupting into flames in street as fire crews tape off area

An advert van erupted into flames on a street in Tameside on Tuesday evening (June 3). Fire crews taped off Old Street after the blaze broke out at around 8.45pm.

Thick plumes of black smoke were seen billowing into the air after the fire broke out and consumed the cabin of the white van, which remains parked near the town centre on a daily basis.


Fire crews raced to the scene to extinguish the blaze and make the area safe. The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.

Emergency services were in attendance for around 30 minutes before the flames were dampened.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At around 8:45pm this evening (Tuesday, 3rd June), firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle fire on Old Street in Tameside.

“One fire engine from Stalybridge fire stations quickly arrived at the scene, which involved a van on fire. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.

“Crews were at the scene for around half an hour.”
