Emergency services were called after a van hit a tree in Greater Manchester earlier today (Friday, June 6). Officers from GMP and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Services were scrambled to the scene on Friday afternoon.

The incident saw Rifle Road close to Sale Water Park closed while the emergency services responded on Friday afternoon. The vehicle crashed into a tree near the tram stop although the driver was unhurt in the crash, according to a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police.

The van was the only vehicle involved in the incident, and a roadside pole was knocked over in the crash.

Pictures from the scene showed Rifle Road cordoned off while the emergency services responded. The road was re-opened a short time later.
