'This action sends a clear message that we will not tolerate people using properties for serious criminal activity'

A house in Trafford raided by police investigating alleged drug dealing has been shut off by a court order.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers executed a warrant at the address on Marshfield Road, Timperley, on Thursday May 29.

Three men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs and remain on bail.

Following the raid, GMP and Trafford Council applied for a closure order.

These are legal orders which are issued by courts to shut down addresses or parts of properties linked to criminality.

And a full closure order, which prohibits anyone other than authorised personnel going in or out, was approved Manchester Magistrates Court. It will run for a period of three months.

Wayne Keron of Old Hall Road, Sale, has been charged with breaching the order and was due to appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (June 4), GMP said.

It is the second closure order issued in Trafford this month, following similar action taken on a property on Haydock Close, Gorse Hill, following a warrant on Monday May, 19.

A quantity of class B drugs and cash was recovered, and a male arrested who has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

A partial closure order was made for that address which allowed the tenant to remain but which prohibited visitors other than authorised personnel.

Inspector Colin Dytor, from GMP, said: “We will continue to tackle the issues that are important to our communities in partnership with Trafford Council.

“We have a number of tools at our disposal to tackle community crime like drug dealing, ASB and theft including the courts, behaviour orders and house closures, and will use them where appropriate.

"This action sends a clear message that we will not tolerate people using properties for serious criminal activity.

“We will take action against anyone who is a blight on our communities - anybody who has any information or concerns regarding ongoing crime within their community should contact GMP on 101 or via the reporting toils on our website.”

Coun Rose Thompson, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Safety, said: “We are pleased to have been able to work together with our partners at Greater Manchester Police to bring this matter to court and restore peace and safety to the area.

"This is a great example of ward councillors, community safety officers and the police working together to listen to local people and support this neighbourhood.”
