Man City drop transfer hint as they tease new Club World Cup kit

Manchester City are having a busy transfer window but could be set to keep one player linked with an exit

Manchester City appear to have placed Ederson front and centre of a new kit campaign despite doubts over the goalkeeper's future. The Brazilian was wanted by a number of Saudi clubs last summer and that interest has resurfaced amid a difficult campaign for many City players.

Pep Guardiola could not confirm in the final weeks of the season that his No.1 would stay this summer, but spoke last week of his belief that both Ederson and Stefan Ortega would remain at the club for the next campaign. "We have spoken about the squad situation and the two goalkeepers that we have will continue," he said.

City have already made the decision to allow Scott Carson to leave on a free transfer, with Chelsea third-choice Marcus Bettenelli expected to sign before the Club World Cup as a replacement. However, Ederson and Ortega are both expected to travel out to the United States for the summer tournament.

The Blues are set to release a new kit ahead of the competition, teasing a date of Tuesday morning for the announcement. And, in a sign that he is seen as part of the club's future, Ederson looks to be at the centre of the promotion.

City will be making their way out to the Club World Cup this week as their new season starts. They will expect to include new signings Rayan Ait Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders once their moves have been completed.

It has been a busy transfer window for the Blues as they look to make good on their ambition to get new faces in place as they look to put their disappointment behind them. Guardiola, though, predicted that there would not be as many changes as people think and expects a familiar look to the squad when they start their next Premier League campaign.

"I don't have that feeling," he said after the Fulham game. "Maybe the club is a little different but I have 24 players and I saw them training the other day and said oh my god how good they are.

"New faces will come, especially in positions where we are weaker, but I don't think a lot. We have a good squad, they have contracts, they want to stay here and I don't want to have a massive amount of players.

"I remember the first season when I arrived and we didn't win one title. There were 9, 10, 11 players out of contract and we didn't extend except Yaya Toure. Then you can make changes but today we have 24 players under contract, it's not as simple as that.

"That's why I don't have the feeling. But We will see. The summer is long, World Cup, maybe players realise they are not going to play and want to leave. But it's not my business."
