Manchester United continue to be linked with a summer move for Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres in their search for a new striker.

The Sweden international has emerged as one of Europe's top strikers in recent years, with a remarkable record of 97 goals in 102 matches since his move from Coventry City to Liga Portugal in July 2023.

Sporting's leading goal scorer this season has made a huge impact in the Portuguese top-flight, scoring 39 goals and providing eight assists in 33 appearances. The 27-year-old has been a key figure in Rui Borges' squad, propelling Sporting to another league title and cup.

Reports on Tuesday from Sky Sports claimed that officials from Old Trafford have made an approach to sign Gyokeres. It is said that the Reds are exploring the conditions of a potential deal.

Gyokeres reportedly has a gentleman's agreement to leave Sporting this summer for offers above £58million (€70m) despite a release clause of around £84m (€100m).

And the bookmakers at Bet365. have United as firm favourites to sign the striker at odds of 2/7. Premier League rivals Arsenal are seen as second favourites at 7/1 with the Gunners appearing to be focusing more on RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko instead.
