Hello and welcome back to the Manchester United transfer blog on Wednesday, June 11.
The first portion of this summer's transfer window will close later today and it has already been a very busy nine days for Ruben Amorim. The £62.5million arrival of Matheus Cunha has been confirmed and several further incomings are being targeted and are therefore expected.
United are also on the hunt for a new striker with Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP now appearing to be their top target. Contact has been made to gauge what it would take to sign him. Victor Osimhen is another name that has been linked with a move to Old Trafford and he has since sent a new message.
Elsewhere, multiple exits are considered very likely with Alejandro Garnacho one of the top candidates set to depart and updates on potential clubs that could sign him have emerged.
Stay tuned to all the latest news from United's summer transfer window below...
Watkins to United?!
Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Club World Cup odds, Wes Brown claimed United would be the perfect fit for Ollie Watkins. The former Red said: "Manchester United need a striker and Ollie Watkins has shown us that he can do that in the Premier League.
"Would Aston Villa swap Watkins for Marcus Rashford? I’m not sure because they still trust Watkins and would need to find a big replacement. They would want a striker who can get 20 goals, and those are hard to come by.
"Look at United and how Rasmus Hojlund has struggled, but a striker like Watkins would be perfect for United..."

United urged to replace Onana
Rene Meulensteen believes Andre Onana should be replaced this summer. The former United coach said: "It’s vital they look to replace Onana.
"If you look at Man United's history, they started building a successful team at Old Trafford through the goalkeeper, with Peter Schmeichel, Edwin van der Sar, and David De Gea.
"They must bring confidence to the defence as that galvanises the whole back line," added Meulensteen. "Having a really good goalkeeper lays the foundations and is massively important."

Benjamin Sesko transfer message
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has been advised to turn down a move to Saudi Arabia after previous interest from Manchester United.
The Manchester Evening News reported in July 2022 that then-Reds football director John Murtough had met with Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, to gauge the possibility of a transfer. However, he ended up moving from RB Salzburg to Leipzig a year later instead.
Sesko has gone on to score 39 goals across all competitions in 87 appearances for the Bundesliga side. The 22-year-old has since been strongly linked with a summer move to Arsenal, potentially leaving the door open for United to sign another Gunners' target in Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres.

Viktor Gyokeres transfer update
An update has emerged on the future of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Portuguese news outlet A Bola have claimed that Manchester United are "keeping an eye" on Gyokeres' future with a view to potentially making a move this summer.
The report claims that United will face competition from Arsenal and Juventus for the Sweden international, who is valued at €70m including add-ons.

Bruno Fernandes message to Rafael Leao
Bruno Fernandes has sent international teammate Rafael Leao a message days after Portugal won the Nations League.
Leao and Fernandes each finished the final in Munich against Spain on Sunday night, with the former joining the United captain on the pitch as a second-half substitute. The midfielder later stepped up during the penalty shootout, scoring the third before Alvaro Morata missed the decisive kick.
That match marked the 38th time they have played together for club or country. They were briefly teammates at Sporting CP in 2018 before Leao unilaterally terminated his contract and later joined Lille on a free transfer.

Viktor Gyokeres transfer boost
Manchester United continue to be linked with a summer move for Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres in their search for a new striker.
The Sweden international has emerged as one of Europe's top strikers in recent years, with a remarkable record of 97 goals in 102 matches since his move from Coventry City to Liga Portugal in July 2023.
Sporting's leading goal scorer this season has made a huge impact in the Portuguese top-flight, scoring 39 goals and providing eight assists in 33 appearances. The 27-year-old has been a key figure in Rui Borges' squad, propelling Sporting to another league title and cup.

Chido Obi stars for Denmark
Manchester United youngster Chido Obi helped Denmark's Under-20s progress to the semi-finals of the Maurice Revello Tournament on Tuesday by scoring in their 3-0 win over Japan.
After stepping off the bench to score deep into injury time in the Danes' 2-0 win over Congo on Saturday, he was rewarded with a starting berth for the clash with Japan, and he repaid manager Mark Strudal's faith almost immediately.
The United striker, who came off the bench to score twice in the Reds' 3-1 win over Hong Kong on their post-season tour last month, opened the scoring with just five minutes on the clock.

Sporting Lisbon chief issues verdict
Sporting Clube de Portugal president Frederico Varandas revealed no promises were made to Viktor Gyokeres about letting him leave for €60million this summer amid interest from Manchester United.
Earlier this year, the Manchester Evening News reported that, according to the Portuguese press, Gyokeres has a 'gentleman’s agreement' allowing him to leave at the end of the 2024/25 season for less than his €100million (£84m) release clause.
This week, the Manchester Evening News reported that Sporting have raised his valuation from €60m (£50m) plus €10m (£8m) in add-ons to €80m (£67.7m).

United want Ndidi
Ben Jacobs has also claimed that United have Leicester City midfielder Wilfried Ndidi on their radar.
Following the Foxes' relegation to the Championship, the King Power Stadium club could be forced to offload players in order to fire them away from the red line for PSR.
It has been said Everton and Al Ahli also have him in their sights.
The player is seen as a good option at equally good value with the suggestion he will be available for £9m.

United should be pleased with what they've done so far
Having signed just one player so far this summer, some may look at how the transfer window has unfolded at Old Trafford and wonder what all the fuss is about.
United came flying out of the blocks at the start of the window, confirming the signing of Matheus Cunha on June 1, before submitting an offer to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
Despite seeing their opening offer of £45million, plus £10m in add-ons, rejected, United are not giving up on their pursuit of the Cameroonian.
Having signed Cunha and shown an eagerness to try and sign another established Premier League player in Mbeumo, it shows that United are not in the mood to hang around this summer.
Once the window reopens next week, they will need to step up their efforts in the seller's market, but that will come with time. United have made positive start to the off-season and it should only get better.

Borussia Dortmund interested in Jadon Sancho
Borussia Dortmund are interested in Jadon Sancho, according to The Athletic.
The Bundesliga club are said to have informed the Manchester United winger's representatives of their interest as they look to improve their attacking options.
With the financial situation surrounding buying Sancho, the finances could be a potential hurdle but Dortmund are optimistic.
Although he isn't the only option with Ritus Doan on their shortlist.

Thomas Frank move to Tottenham and impact on United interest in Mbeumo
According to Ben Jacobs, Manchester United are in a commanding position in the hunt to sign Bryan Mbeumo.
It has been suggested that Tottenham could be in the race with reports suggesting manager Thomas Frank is set to take over from Brentford.
However, the reporter has claimed that the cross-London move and Spurs' interest will not have an impact on United's efforts.
He said via Caught Offside: "It’s not expected that the expected arrival of Thomas Frank will influence this.”

Emi Martinez 'loves' Aston Villa amid Man United links
Emi Martinez's wife has played down the suggestion that his emotional response after Aston Villa's final home match was a farewell.
The Argentina goalkeeper cut an upset figure following their encounter last month with reports emerging on the back of the showing that there was interest from Saudi Arabia and Manchester United.
"He wasn't in tears," she said on BBC West Midlands.
"No.
"Anybody who knows Emi knows he is an emotional character and that's who he is.
"It just shows you how much he loves the Villa fans.
"I love the Villa fans. We love Villa."

Sporting president dismisses Viktor Gyokeres claim
Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas has denied that Viktor Gyokeres will leave for €60million and dismissed claims that they are yet to receive a bid for his services.
"I can guarantee that Viktor Gyökeres will not leave for 60+10 because I never promised him that," he said.
"[Are there offers for 60 million?] To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Viktor Gyökeres, neither today nor last season."
"He is a fantastic professional, to this day he has had zero offers.
"He has a three-year contract with Sporting."

Viktor Gyokeres next club odds
Betfair have made Manchester United favourites to sign Viktor Gyokeres.
Any move for the Swede would be a marker of intent with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool reportedly interested.
The bookmakers' spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Man United are the clear odds-on favourites at 2/9 to sign Viktor Gyokeres amid reports the Sporting star revealed that he won’t play for his current club again.
"The 27-year-old is 9/2 to move to Arsenal, who were the previous favourites, with a move to Juventus 13/2 and Napoli 17/2.
“Elsewhere, a move to Premier League champions Liverpool is 10/1, with Chelsea, 14/1, among the outsiders for his signature."

Arsenal 9/2
Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Any Saudi Pro League Club 13/2
Napoli 17/2

United could be in dreamland with two more attacking signings
Having already wrapped up the signing of Matheus Cunha, United are now going after Bryan Mbeumo.
The Reds had an opening offer, understood to be worth £55million, turned down last week, but discussions remain ongoing between themselves and Brentford.
If they get their man, United will be adding a versatile attacker who scored 20 Premier League goals in 2024/25. Take Cunha's tally of 17 goals in all competitions into account and any United fan would be forgiven for getting a little bit excited.
United believe they can sign Mbeumo without funding any sales beforehand, but they will have no choice but to step up their efforts in the seller's market when it comes to trying to recruit a striker.
Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres is a hot topic right now and he reportedly wants to leave Sporting Lisbon this summer. He scored 54 goals in 2024/25, meaning he would be another excellent addition at Old Trafford.
The prospect of United starting next season with three attackers that scored a combined total of 91 goals in 2024/25 is bound to put a smile on the face of any supporter.

Angel Gomes set for new club after Man United return links
According to Fabrizio Romano, former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes is set to sign for Marseille.
It has been claimed that the England international will sign on a three-year deal after leaving Lille on a free.
United were linked with a sensational return with his contract at the French club expiring but the midfielder looks set to make the move across Ligue 1.

Matheus Cunha praised
Matheus Cunha received praise from Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti.
He was on hand to provide the assist for the only goal of the game against Paraguay to secure World Cup qualification.
Ancelotti said: "The idea was to change the attack a bit.
"Martinelli changed his position with Vinicius, and Cunha helped in ball possession in attack.
"Cunha, Martinelli, Raphinha… the team worked in great harmony. The team played well, and that is why I am happy.
"We have excellent wingers.
"We can play with three players in midfield.
"Today, Cunha was not a central striker; he was an attacking midfielder.
"We benefited from the speed of Vinicius, Martinelli, and Raphinha to attack the wings, and Cunha played as a playmaker. It worked well."

Fresh contact made for Gyokeres
Fabrizio Romano has claimed there has been fresh contact over a move to Manchester United for Viktor Gyokeres.
It's claimed that United are still looking for a striker despite the arrival of Matheus Cunha, as well as their interest in Bryan Mbeumo.
Further business may rely on player sales but United are still pushing according to the reporter.
He said in his Give Me Sport newsletter: "It's an open race for Gyokeres.
"He remains on Arsenal list in case [Benjamin] Sesko deal doesn't happen, Man United have called his agents again over the weekend."

Victor Osimhen dreaming of Premier League move
Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that Victor Osimhen is dreaming of playing in the Premier League amid Manchester United links.
The Nigerian reportedly rejected a lucrative move to A-Hilal with Napoli said to be keen to sell the forward.
The Serie A champions are reportedly demanding £63million for his services.

Viktor Gyokeres rift emerges amid transfer uncertainty
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, a rift has emerged with Sporting CP and Viktor Gyokeres after claims that the Swede's price-tag has increased.
They claim that Sporting agreed that Gyokeres could leave for £53m this year but it has been suggested that the demands have increased.
The 27-year-old is reportedly available for £67m, which has created a 'rift' between the two parties with Gyokeres feeling he is ready to make the leap up.

Real Betis make Antony transfer decision
Real Betis want further talks over a proposed move for Antony, according to the Daily Mail.
It has been claimed that the La Liga side want to engage in fresh negotiations following his successful loan spell.
However, it is said that Betis want to propose another loan deal with an option to buy, worth around £35million.

What does the window closing mean for United's pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo?
With the transfer window shut, what does it mean for Manchester United and their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo or other targets?
The MEN has reported that Ruben Amorim's side are expected to continue prioritising the signing of the Brentford attacker when the summer transfer window reopens next week.
As well as wanting to sign Mbeumo, United also have ambitions of signing a striker, a midfielder and potentially a goalkeeper. The addition of a specialist right wing-back is also yet to have been ruled out.
But, further additions will rest on generating funds via player sales.

Evans not rushing next move after United exit
Former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans is not rushing his next move after it was confirmed he will depart the club as a free agent this summer.
Speaking to the BBC while on international duty with Northern Ireland, he said:
"I'm not sure yet. I'll take a bit of time. I don't feel like I'm in a rush to do anything."

Rashford to Barcelona 'probability'
There is a 40 percent chance of Marcus Rashford joining Barcelona this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
He adds that, as things stand, there are no formal negotiations between the two clubs and the England international is one of a number of options on the table for the La Liga club.
United are seeking a fee in the region of £40m for Rashford this summer and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona reignite their interest in the player, having failed to land him in January after they were unable to make sales.

United's summer 'budget'
Manchester United have allocated funds for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer, according to reports.
Sky Sports claim any further deals, whether it's for someone like Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres, would need to be financed by player sales.
Cunha is alread through the door at Old Trafford, while negotiations with Brentford over a deal for Mbeumo are reportedly ongoing.

The transfer window is shut!
The 7pm deadline for the first transfer window of the summer has now passed...
It will reopen again in six days time on June 16. That said, it shouldn't impact Manchester United's plans as work on any deals will be ongoing.
The deadline is only significant to clubs set to compete in this summer's FIFA Club World Cup.
United will not panic as fresh Mbeumo update emerges
The thirst for transfer news is intense during the summer transfer window, writes Steven Railston.
Fans are desperate for minute-by-minute updates and Manchester United supporters want to know the latest on Bryan Mbeumo, who is keen on a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Last week, United submitted an opening offer of £45million with a further £10million in add-ons, but it fell short of Brentford’s valuation.
The summer window is set to close briefly before reopening again on June 16 and confirmation of a breakthrough for Mbeumo could arrive when it reopens. No progress is expected by close of play on Tuesday, despite a handful of 'in-the-know' accounts on X prematurely speculating that a second bid for Mbeumo had been made.
