A huge military plane has been spotted flying over Manchester this evening. The aircraft was spotted flying over Cheadle on Wednesday (June 11).

A video sent to the M.E.N shows the machine as it glided over the home of locals, emitting the sound of an almighty boom as it flew past.


Flight data shows that the plane flew over a number Greater Manchester towns such as Hyde, Stockport, Altrincham, Eccles and Prestwich.


The aircraft is a Boeing C-17 Globemaster 3, a transport vehicle, it is mainly used by the US Air Force and favoured for its quick delivery of servicemen and cargo to multiple places around the world.

It is best known for its flexibility and ability to cope in difficult environments and it is used for peacekeeping, military deployments and humanitarian missions. According to flight monitoring data, the plane flew over Cheadle at around 6pm.
