M&S online orders update leaves some shoppers 'gutted' as they ask why
M&S announced they would be restarting online orders from today, but some shoppers have been left disappointed by the news
M&S have announced today that they will be resuming their online orders after having paused them for six weeks.
The decision to suspend orders came after M&S announced they had been hit by a cyber attack over Easter, and they explained the pause was part of the store's "proactive management" of the incident.
Last month M&S explained that the breach had been caused by "human error" after hackers were able to gain access via a third party to the retailer's systems.
But, after six weeks of shoppers being unable to order food, clothing and homeware from the retailer, M&S announced today, June 10, that they would be “bringing back online shopping”.
On Instagram M&S wrote: “A selection of our best selling fashion ranges will be available for home delivery to England, Scotland and Wales.”
They then added: “More of our fashion, home and beauty products will be added every day and we will resume deliveries to Northern Ireland and Click and Collect in the coming weeks.”
This news has disappointed some shoppers in Northern Ireland who have been left questioning why they are not able to now make online orders.
Responding to M&S’s Instagram post one shopper, Nicola Honeyman, wrote: “Can you explain why does Northern Ireland have to wait?”
M&S spokesperson Jake then replied: “We are working hard to resume online orders for our valued customers in Northern Ireland as quickly as we can.”
He added: “Meanwhile, M&S Fashion, Home and Beauty is available to shop in our stores. We are grateful to customers for their continued support."
Shopper Suzzanne Evans added: "Absolutely gutted that Northern Ireland has to wait!", while user mtjbel said: "Can someone explain why Northern Ireland isn’t included and has to wait? And more specifically when in the 'coming weeks'."
Other customers have also been interested to know when orders will be resumed in the Republic of Ireland.
Responding to queries, M&S spokesperson Jake wrote: “We are working hard to resume online orders in ROI. We are grateful to customers for their continued support.”
Last month M&S also revealed that the cyber attack had cost the company around £300 million and said that disruption could last up to July.
