'They were trying to perform some sort of stunt, which went horribly wrong'
"It went horribly wrong"
A family were left 'covered in glass' after a group of 'idiotic' masked youths on bikes landed on a car windscreen before fleeing the scene in north Manchester.
Anam, who was in the back of the car along with her sister and parents, aged 67 and 72, were driving along Briscoe Lane in Newton Heath at around 8pm on Sunday (June 8) when they saw two boys on bikes who 'appeared out of nowhere'.
After speeding down the street and 'trying to perform some sort of stunt', the bikers then smashed into the windscreen and bonnet, causing severe damage and shards of glass to shatter into the car.

Instead of stopping, they fled the scene on foot, leaving Anams parents 'covered in glass' and shaken up. Emergency services were then called to the scene.
"We were driving back home when two boys on bikes appeared out of nowhere," Anam said. "They were on black electric bikes and came straight towards our car. The bikes smashed into our windscreen and bonnet and caused severe damage.
"My parents were sat in the front seat and were covered in bits of glass. The two boys got up and quickly ran away and left the bikes on the floor.
"It seemed as though they were trying to perform some sort of a stunt, which obviously went horribly wrong.
"We called the police and they also sent an ambulance. Unfortunately the two boys were wearing balaclavas and ran away so they haven’t been caught."
Anam said the two bikers appeared to be aged around 16-18 years old and were dressed in black. While waiting for police to arrive, she claimed another teenager ran over and stole one of the bikes.
"The police finally arrived and took our details, and they took the other bike away," she said. "Thankfully none of us were seriously injured, but my parents are elderly and are extremely shaken up by this incident.
"People of Manchester need to be made aware that there are idiotic teenage boys riding electric bikes pulling dangerous stunts. My parents could have ended up severely injured, but thankfully they weren’t."
Greater Manchester Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson said: "At around 8pm on 8 June, officers received reports of a collision between two bikes and a car on Briscoe Lane, Manchester.
"It is believed that the two riders ran away from the scene following the collision. Thankfully no serious injuries were reported.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 or gmp.police.uk, quoting log 2863 of 08/06/25."
