Three signings, new staff, Jack Grealish talks - Man City state of play before transfer deadline

What Manchester City can expect in the final hours of the first transfer window as they prepare for the Club World Cup

Manchester City are expected to complete three signings before the first transfer window closes on Tuesday. The Blues have until 7pm on June 10 to finalise deals for Rayan Ait Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders if they want them to be part of their Club World Cup squad.

Ait Nouri completed his City medical on Saturday and Reijnders flew to Manchester on Sunday for his between Netherlands matches. Both of those should easily get done before Tuesday.

City still have to agree a fee with Lyon for Cherki but, as the player himself has said, there is expectation that this deal also gets done. Cherki will be involved with France against Germany in the UEFA Nations League third-place game on Sunday, but that still leaves the best part of two days for the Blues to sort the rest of the deal out.

There is no need for City to get all three wrapped up before the Club World Cup, but it is what the club want as they look to put a disappointing season behind them.

City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak spoke recently about the ambition to get the bulk of their transfers done before they head off for the United States to give Pep Guardiola the best possible chance of integrating the new arrivals.

Announcements on staff could also come shortly. That is not tied to a transfer window, but with three of Guardiola's assistants having left before the Club World Cup there will need to be new faces; former Liverpool assistant Pep Ljinders is ready to join, and may not be the only face announced this coming week as City prepare to fly.

Any departures are not likely to be sorted this week, with none of City's players that could leave close to a move to a team that is in the Club World Cup. With less urgency as a result, more time can be taken over those deals.

Kevin De Bruyne will complete a move to Napoli after he has finished international duty with Belgium, James McAtee will be sold but is off to the Under-21 European Championship with England, and Jack Grealish needs to assess his options.

The former Villa man has been told by England manager Thomas Tuchel to find a club competing in Europe next season if he wants to go to the World Cup next summer.

City will be able to do the rest of their business in the second transfer window of the summer, which opens six days after the first one closes and runs all the way to September 1.
