A popular independent food and drink festival in Greater Manchester is making a big return later this month.

YUM! (Your Urmston Matters) Independent Food & Drink Festival debuted at the M41 site on Railway Road last year and attracted thousands of visitors with its line-up for food vendors, live performers and family-friendly entertainment.

It has now been confirmed that the Trafford event, which is run entirely by volunteers, will be returning to the same spot for a second year on June 21. Hosted by Urmston resident and food and drink presenter Matty White, the community-led festival will feature live cooking demos, family activities and lots of food and drink to devour.

Amongst the line-up this year will be Inforno Pizzeria, who have had their oven-baked pizzas described by recent visitors online as ‘unbelievable’, as well as JJ's Caribbean Kitchen, with their popular selection of dishes including jerk chicken and curried goat.

Indian restaurant Sai Surbhi, which started life in Preston, will also be hosting their own stall selling their award-winning creations. Last year, the restaurant - led by Raman Kaur and Narinder Singh Athwa - was named the recipients of two prizes at the Asian Restaurant Awards, with their Urmston venue receiving the title of Best Newcomer in the North West.

Local independent businesses including Flour & Soul, Cof Cof Coffee, Banga Curries, Barrowfield Dog Park Cafe, YNOT Bar & Restaurant, Dev's Ice Cream Company, Mulino, The Greek Village, and Pomona Island Brewery will also be taking part in the food festival.

Running from 11am to 5pm, the Urmston festival will also feature a number of artisan producers and drink retailers selling locally-made items which can be bought to enjoy at home. There will also be live music from local musicians and groups throughout the day.

“Bringing YUM! Food & Drink Fest back for a second year is incredibly exciting,” Fred Davids, Chair of the Love Urmston committee, which is behind the festival alongside Urmston Partnership, said.

“It’s a brilliant way to celebrate what makes Urmston special — its community and fantastic food and drink scene; welcoming people from near and far to experience the town at its best.
