Two people killed in tragedies on Greater Manchester railway lines
The line between Stockport and Sheffield is currently closed as emergency services respond
A second person has died on the railway line in Greater Manchester this morning.
The person was 'hit by a train' on the line between Stockport and Buxton/Sheffield, National Rail said.
British Transport Police (BTP) said it happened on a stretch of track near Hazel Grove station at around 10.30am.
Officers and paramedics responded, but the person was declared dead at the scene, they said.
No further details, including their age or gender, have yet been released.
All stations between Stockport and Sheffield are currently closed whilst emergency services carry out their work.

A BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called at around 10.30am today (5 June) to reports of a casualty on the tracks on the line near Hazel Grove railway station.
"Officers and paramedics attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner."
It is the second such tragedy within a matter of hours this morning. A person also died on the tracks just seven miles in Hyde,. Tameside.
That incident occurred near Hyde Central station, shortly after 6:15am. The line between Guide Bridge in Audenshaw and Romiley was closed for almost four hours whilst emergency services dealt with the aftermath.
BTP said regarding that incident: "Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks at 6.16am today (5 June) on the line near Hyde Central railway station.
"Officers and paramedics attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading up to their death."
